HB 1126, the Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act, signed April 30, 2024; effective July 1, 2024. Requires age verification of all users and parental consent for under-18s. Preliminarily enjoined twice in NetChoice v. Fitch, but the 5th Circuit vacated each injunction and the U.S. Supreme Court declined to halt the law on Aug 14, 2025 (Justice Kavanaugh called it "likely unconstitutional" but let it stand). Currently enforceable; the 5th Circuit reheard the appeal Feb 3, 2026, with a ruling pending.
